wedding stationery timeline for australian and new zealand brides

The whole wedding process can be a little overwhelming, and wedding stationery is just one part of it. I've created this wedding stationery timeline with Australian and New Zealand brides in mind. If you're located else-where in the world, please get in contact with me to discuss how the timeline may change for you.

12 months

If you're 12 months away from getting married you want to start looking for engagement party stationery (If you’re having one), if not - start looking for a stationer to create your wedding stationery (and book them in as soon as possible!) Why this early? Wedding stationers will usually be booked out in advance. At Blossie, you'll usually have to wait at least two-three weeks before the design process can even start.

9-11 months

SAVE THE DATES - Place an order for your Save The Dates around the 11-month mark if you haven't yet. You'll want to give your guests plenty of notice, especially if you're having a destination wedding. You'll have wanted to have sent these out at least by the 9-month mark (if not earlier!)

ENGAGEMENT PARTY - The same goes for engagement party invitations. Order and send out any stationery for your engagement party.

8-7 months

GUEST LIST - Start compiling your guest list. Gather as many addresses as you can early on to save you from crazy chaos later. These will be used for your wedding invitations.

WEDDING INVITATIONS - Get in touch with a wedding stationer (like me - Hannah, at Blossie!) if you haven't earlier on when you had your Save The Dates made.

It's at this stage I can give you a pricing proposal, and we can discuss what you're after and your vision. You can also order samples at a small cost if required.

6-4 months

WEDDING INVITATIONS - Start working with a wedding stationer between this time frame to ensure you’ll have the wedding invitations and stationery of your dreams!

2-3 months

WEDDING INVITATIONS - Assemble, address and send out your wedding invitations.

WEDDING STATIONERY - If you’re after name places, menus, seating plans etc - it’s important to get this booked in now and place an order as soon as possible.

6-8 weeks

WEDDING STATIONERY - Your day-of stationery design should be locked in and ready to go (order placed) - apart from perhaps a few guests names you're waiting on. If you haven’t, you should order your thank you cards - this will save you from having to do it after the wedding.

5-6 weeks

RSVP CARDS - Should be all back by now. Follow up anyone who hasn’t responded. Pass on your final guest list to you stationer for your day-of stationery.

1-2 months after

THANK YOU CARDS - This is the time-frame in which you should send out thank you cards. No one likes to get a card ages after the wedding has passed. The sooner - the better it looks.

This is purely a guideline and what I recommend for Blossie clients - and of course there are instances where you don't have to stick purely to this. Get in touch with me today to start your wedding stationery process!
